Climb Up Kilimanjaro

The American Foundation for Children with AIDS (AFCA) was looking for a fun, creative and adventurous way to raise awareness of the critical need for medicine for children with HIV/AIDS living in sub-Saharan Africa and offer a unique means to raise funds to support its mission. That’s when the idea of Climb Up Kilimanjaro came to life.

Climb Up Kilimanjaro pairs the adventure of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro with the charitable purpose of helping children with HIV/AIDS and offers the participant a life-impacting experience.

Each year AFCA sends climbers to Tanzania on teams with 4 to 14 members. SENE, the expedition company hired by AFCA, leads the climbers on a seven day adventure to the “Roof of Africa.” Hikers experience a journey that takes them through five climate zones and up to an elevation of 19,341 feet. The experience is life-changing, the views are breath-taking, and the memories are priceless.

Meanwhile, each climber raises $8,000 with approximately $5,500 going directly to AFCA’s programs. With medicine costing roughly $1 per day for one child, each climber makes a huge impact providing medicine for many children.
